Randeep Hooda removed as ambassador of UN treaty for his 2012 Mayawati ‘joke’

 

Mumbai : Actor Randeep Hooda is currently trending on twitter and demand for his arrest is rising due to an old video of his. Actor has been in the headlines lately after an old video of him went viral.

 

In the said video clip, the actor is seen cracking a joke on the politician and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati. While it is unclear when the video was shot and in what context Hooda was making the joke, netizens are furious and have accused him of being ‘sexist and casteist.’

Not only this, Randeep Hooda has been removed from the post of Ambassador of the United Nations Convention on the Protection of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS). Recall that Randeep was appointed as an ambassador for three years in February 2020.

According to the report, the statement said, ‘The comment made by Randeep Hooda in the video was found to be objectionable by the CMS Secretariat. He does not reflect the values of the CMS Secretariat or the United Nations. Hooda is no longer the ambassador of CMS. This decision was taken after a controversy arose over the objectionable remarks made by Randeep about a prominent woman leader of the country.’
