The Supreme Court may have decriminalised consensual sex between two adults of same gender, but it seems it will take time to build better relationships between them.

In a first such case after the apex court’s verdict, a 23-year-old youth from Pashan-Sus road allegedly attacked his sleeping male partner in Shukrawar Peth on Wednesday. The 46 year-old injured man has lodged an FIR against the youth with Khadak police station, under Pune city police.

He met the youth who lived with his male partner, about two and half years ago. They started meeting frequently. They decided to sleep together on Tuesday night. Around 6 am on Wednesday, the youth allegedly assaulted the complainant with chopper when he was sleeping.

After getting information, cops reached the flat and nabbed the accused. The complainant is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Police are investigating the exact cause of assault. Meanwhile, a case of attempt to murder has been registered against the youth. Assistant Police inspector Umaji Rathod is further investigating the case.
