Pune : Women duped of Rs 91 lakhs in small saving scheme

PUNE : NPNEWS NETWORK – An FIR has been registered with Chandan Nagar police station against directors of Shivjit Mudra Credit Co-operative Society, Vadgaosheri, for allegedly chetaing women to tune of Rs 91 lakhs, under pretext of lucrative returns on investment in saving schemes.

Based on complaint from Meena Mohan Ingale (40) of Vadgaonsheri, police have booked founder of Shri Mahalaxmi Narayan Mahasangh, Shivaji Tukaram Dhamdhere, president Mandarani Shivaji Dhamdhere, Vijay Thorat, Anjali Thorat, Savita Vijay Thorat. The co-operative society is run by the Mahasangh.

According to police, the incident took place from 2015 till now. The women belonging to the Vadgaonsheri area along with the complainant were suggested to start a small saving group from Shri Mahalaxmi Narayan Mahasangh. After the establishment of the respective savings group, women were asked to invest money and they were promised good returns. However, even after maturity of the amount, they did not get the promised returns.

Police Sub Inspector PV Kulkarni is further investigating the case.
