Pune : Wife of suspended police officer attempts to set herself on fire at police station

NPnews24 ONline : Pune – After failing to register complaint against a policeman for harassing her, the wife of a suspended Assistant Police Inspector tried to commit suicide in the premises of Hadapsar police station on Thursday morning. However, alert policemen intervened and saved her.

She is the wife of API Dattatray Madane. The woman, Prerna Madne, had submitted complaint with Hadapsar police station on April 3. But no FIR was registered in the case against erring policeman.

Fed up with repeated attempts to get the case registered, the woman reached the police station around 8.30 am and tried to set her on fire after pouring oil. She has been rushed to a hospital.

She has made serious allegations against policeman Rahul Vetal. She alleged that he tried to outrage her modesty and his family members were pressurizing her to take back her complaint.
