Pune: Using Same Whip of Mahatma Phule Against This Government Will be Real Tribute to Him on His Birth Anniversary: Amol Kolhe (Video)

Pune: “Today’s farmer is depressed and marginalised by the wrong policies of the central government. In 1883, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule depicted the worst situations of farmers of that time. Today, after almost 150 years, the situation is almost the same. Therefore, the time has come to raise our collective voice against the wrong agricultural policies of this government,” opined Shirur MP and Mahavikas Aaghadi’s candidate for Shirur Lok Sabha, Dr. Amol Kolhe.

MP Supriya Sule, MP Amol Kolhe, and MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, all three candidates of Mahavikas Aghadi, greeted Mahatma Phule at Mahatma Phule Wada on his birth anniversary. Kolhe has criticized the BJP’s central government’s regressive policies while interacting with the media at that time.

Kolhe said, “In 1883, Mahatma Phule wrote the book titled ‘Shetkaryacha Asud’ (The Whip of Farmers). In this book, Mahatma Phule aptly portrayed the plight of farmers and also told them the path for their development. At present, whether it is onion-producing farmers or soy-bean and milk-producing farmers, these farmers are suffering huge losses due to the regressive policies of the central government. Small landholding farmers are being nabbed.”

Kolhe said that using the same whip as provided by Mahatma Phule against this government will be the only real tribute to Mahatma Phule on his birth anniversary, appealing people to vote for Mahavikas Aaghadi in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, his rival and Mahayuti’s official candidate from Shirur Lok Sabha constituency, Aadhalrao Patil, criticised Kolhe, saying, “Shirur Lok Sabha has become disreputable due to the constantly changing sides of a few leaders,” taunting Kolhe. Answering this, Kolhe said, “Perhaps there could be some mirror in front of him while speaking, and I just wish him ‘Get Well Soon’.”

Kolhe also rebuked Aadhalrao Patil, saying that in spite of leveraging personal accusations against me, if he had talked about issues like the onion export ban and milk-producing farmers, I would have felt happy. Therefore, these statements do not have much value as they are completely baseless and have been made only to shift people’s attention from the main issue.
