Pune Traffic Police strict on busy roads; Action against PMPMLs, Autos and Other Vehicles

Pune traffic is getting worst day by day and in order to curb the situation on Monday being the first day of week and time to rush to office Pune police traffic department strike on road with taking action against the traffic violators since morning. But this time, it was not the rash driver but the public transport buses, illegal park vehicles on the road and the pavement.

City always witnesses a traffic hazard due to uncertain parking of buses of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), rickshaw, and Cab operators.

Swargate traffic police control department took huge action on Monday for vehicles parked unevenly at Swargate chowk. Due to the continuous rains, increase in potholes in the streets of Swargate Chowk, traffic has slowed down in the area. The traffic congestion in this circle always remains an issue, despite the flyover built in the area.

According to the traffic law and Violation Zone, Swargate Traffic Police Department has applied jammer to auto-rickshaws and vehicles.

Reputed as Accident Way – Expressway Witnesses One More Accident

Traffic rules were already in implementation but observing the hazard and in-disciplinary of riders, traffic department has highlighted the issue even more. As per the orders of new DCP Tejasvi Satpute, proceedings were started on war-footing by traffic police.

As said by Assistant Traffic PI Pradip Chopade, “Traffic has always been an issue in the area because of the lack of discipline in citizens. Not only this, PMPML bus was also jammed by traffic department as they used to drop the passengers outside on road instead of bus-stop. The actions will be taken against the PMPML drivers, also the auto-rickshaws, two wheelers and private company owned cabs which were parked outside of the parking area and such vehicles have been jammed applying lock.”

These investigation also helped traffic police to reveal the non-licence holders. People who were caught driving without licence were imposed the fine of Rs 1000. Those who had parked their vehicles on no parking zone were fined Rs 200, vehicles parked on footpath caused fine of Rs 2000 to owners, car parked in no parking zone were imposed the fine of Rs 5000 by E-Challan. All these penalties were collected online. Which also helped to recover the previous pending penalties of unfollowed traffic rules.

These investigation is going under the ACP of Traffic, Nagnath Wakude. As information received from Nagnath Wakude, ACP of Traffic, “Traffic congestion becomes a vital issue in Swargate area. Investigation we carried on August 27 from morning till afternoon, Rs 20,200 has been recovered through E-Challan. The motive behind this investigation is to bring the awareness in citizen for traffic rules by imposing as little as possible amount’s fine on them as per the rules.”

Investigation going on since the morning of August 27, traffic police till afternoon jammed 4 PMPML buses which were fined Rs 8000 and the driver or PMPML is bound to pay the fine amount to traffic police, 20 Autos were fined Rs 4000, 25 two-wheeler were fined Rs 5000, 2 heavy trucks were fined Rs 2400 and 2 luxury buses were fined Rs 800.
