Pune – Sassoon hospital doctors to shut OPD until BJP corporator arrested

NPNEWS24 Online : Pune – The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors, (MARD), Pune branch, has threatened to shut OPD at the Sassoon hospital from March 15 (Friday), if the BJP corporator Aarti Kondhare is not arrested immediately for slapping a junior resident doctor.

“The resident doctors will refrain from work until action is taken against the corporator”, stated the MARD letter sent to the dean of the hospital.

The incident had taken place on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday. Based on complaint from Dr Snehal Khandagale (26) of Jalna, who is working here as junior resident doctor, Bundgarden police station has registered FIR against the accused BJP corporator Aarti Sachin Kondhre from Bhavani Peth area.

According to police, the incident took place around 12.30 midnight. Dr Snehal was checking a serious patient in the casualty ward, when Kondhare walked in shouting. “She asked about a patient and wanted to know who is treating that patient. I informed her that he has been given primary treatment and there are stitches on his head. I further informed that he has to be taken for CT Scan. She was continuously shouting and pressurising to give preference to her patient. There was another serious patient and I began treatment on him. She started asking about my details and threatened to complain against me with Tambe sir. The woman also began clicking my photos and shooting video on phone. I told her clicking photos and video shooting is not allowed there. When I tried to stop her, she slapped me. A man (Sachin Kondhare) accompanying her, took her away while she kept abusing me”, Khandagale stated in her complaint.
