2 workers dead after falling from under construction hall at PMC school

NPNEWS24 Online : Pune – In an unfortunate incident, two workers died after falling from the third floor of a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) school, where work of constructing a multipurpose hall is going on. Police have booked the contractor for not following security guidelines.

The deceased workers have been identified as Manoj Vasantrao Wadje (23) and Vijay Bhavsar (25), both residents of Swami Samarth Nagar, Narhe.

According to Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, the incident took place on March 9 at the PMC Hanumantrao Thorave School school in Dhankawadi. The case has been registered against Santosh Vasantrao Wadje of Bamnali, in Nanded.

Senior police inspector Vishnu Pawar said that the renovation work of the school is going on. Also a multipurpose hall is being constructed on the third floor. The accused contractor had not provided safety gears like helmet, safety net etc. Wadje’s brother Manoj and Bhavsar were working on the third floor, when Manoj’s leg slipped arond noon on Saturday. At that time, Bhavsar tried to save Manoj by hand. Both of them fell down and were seriously injured. Manoj died on the spot. Bhavsar was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Bhavsar died on Wednesday afternoon.

Assistant Police Inspector CM Suryavanshi is investigating this matter.
