Pune: Rural Police Arrest Opium Cultivators Without Licence, Seize 14 kg Opium Saplings Valued at Rs 28,700

Pune: The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune Rural Police apprehended two people in connection with the cultivation of illegal opium on their farm. In the subsequent police action, a police team confiscated 14 kg of opium saplings from the farm. This action was taken by the police on Tuesday, March 12.

The accused individuals in this case have been identified as Tanaji Shantaram Hagawane, 48, and Shivaji Baban Hagawane. Both are residents of Kirkatwadi, Sinhagad Road, Taluka Haveli.

As per the police information, the accused, Hagawane, have farms near Indraprastha Society on Nandoshi Street in Kirkatwadi. Police inspector Avinash Shilimkar of the local crime branch got the information that two people are engaged in the illegal cultivation of opium in their field in Kirkatwadi. Acting on the information, the crime branch team and investigation team of Haveli police station conducted a raid on the field.

At this location, authorities seized opium plants weighing 14 kg, along with seeds valued at 28,700 rupees. Subsequently, the two accused individuals were apprehended, and a case was filed against them. Further investigation in this case is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Vikas Adagale.

This significant action was carried out by the team of the Local Crime Branch of Pune Rural Police, comprising officials such as Police Inspector of Local Crime Branch (LCB) Avinash Shilimkar, Police Inspector of Haveli Police Station Sachin Wangde, Assistant Inspector Rahul Gawde, Vikas Adagale, Police Constable Sachin Ghadge, Ajit Bhujbal, Dutta Tambe, Dagdu Veerkar, Dilip Ambekar, Ashok Taru, Ganesh Dhanve, Santosh Bhapkar, Rajinikanth Khandale, Sachin Gund, and Maksud Syed, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chopde, and Sub Divisional Officer Bhausaheb Dhole.
