Pune – Robbers loot Rs 3 lakhs cash from Amazon store

Pune: NP NEWS ONLINE – In a daring raid, four robbers swooped down on the e-commerce giant Amazon’s Lohegaon hub and decamped with Rs three lakhs cash in the wee hours of Friday. They were armed iron rods and choppers and assaulted the watchman and two staffs of the company.

After getting the information, a team from Vimantal police station of Pune city police reached the spot and chased the robbers but they managed to escape. Later police seized their car and mobile phone of one of the staff which they took away.

As per information was given by Senior police inspector Dilip Shinde, in-charge of the Vimantal police station, the Amazon company’s premises are located in the outer area of Lohegaon. There were four staffers inside who were waiting for their vehicle to come at 5 am to take away goods for delivery. Two staffers had gone out to answer nature’s call when the robbers attacked them. Later they entered the store as the shutter was up and beat the staffs and decamped with Rs three lakhs cash. They also damaged laptops and took away DVR of CCTV footage. While going away they also snatched two phones of the staffers. They fled in a Zen car.

By the time police reached the robbers had fled. Later their vehicle was found abandoned at some distance. A morning walker had found one of the mobile phones and handed over it to the police.

Officials from Crime Branch and Vimantal police are further investigating the case.
