Pune: PSI involved in MD sale demanded Rs 3.5 lakh for not to arrest a suspect

Pimpri: More illegal deeds of the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) arrested in the MD sale case are being exposed. He had demanded Rs 3.5 from a suspect for not to arrest him. The PSI concerned is likely to be booked in this case too.

The arrested PSI has been identified as Vikas Shelke attached with the Nigdi Police Station. According to the police, PSI Shelke and his hotel employee Namami Shankar Zha were arrested for possessing and selling MD. Over 47 kgs of MD has been confiscated from them till date. The Anti-Narcotics Cell interrogated Shelke and came to know about his involvement in another offence.

PSI Shelke called the suspect in a cheating case filed as per the direction of the court. Shelke met him below the flyover at Nashik Phata. He then snatched the mobile phone of the suspect and demanded Rs 3.5 lakh for not arresting him. The suspect had lodged a complaint in this regard. On probing the matter, police officials found it to be true. Therefore, another offence is likely to be registered against PSI Shelke.
