Pune: Police Commissioner Detains Notorious Criminal Prem Shinde Under MPDA Act; Ordered One-Year Imprisonment Under Nagpur Central Jail

Pune: The inveterate criminal, Prem Ankush Shinde, was apprehended yesterday by Pune Police Commissioner, Ritesh Kumar, under the MPDA Act. This latest action is the 92nd such action by a police commissioner under the Act.

22-year-old Shinde is a resident of Vetalnagar, Ambegaon Budruk, Pune, and has committed many crimes in the area. Shinde, along with his accomplices, have been involved in crimes such as attempted murder, rioting, and possession of illegal weapons such as iron machetes, swords, and knives within Bharati Vidyapeeth police station limits.

Police informed that in the last five years, four serious crimes have been registered against Shinde in various police stations of the city. Considering the increasing menacing activities of Shinde, a proposal for taking action against him under the MPDA Act was sent to Pune City Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar a few days ago. After scrutinising the necessary documents, the commissioner gave his nod to go along with the action.

Ritesh Kumar ordered the detention of Shinde in Nagpur Central Jail for one year under the provisions of the MPDA Act. Accordingly, the accused was held and sent to police custody yesterday.

This operation was carried out by a team of Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad of Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, Senior Police Inspector Dashrath Patil, Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Bedare of Pune Crime Branch, police officers, and other officers.
