Pune: PMPML to Review Pune Airport Feeder Service Over Low Passenger Numbers

Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is considering reassessing the feeder service connecting Ramwadi metro station to Pune Airport due to its lackluster response. Despite operating with 10 trips per day initially, the service is only accommodating around 200 passengers daily, falling short of the intended target of 400.

If ridership numbers fail to improve within the next two months, PMPML plans to reevaluate the feasibility of the service. The bus routes from Ramwadi metro station to Pune Airport serve various stops, offering convenient access to destinations such as Hyatt Hotel, Symbiosis College, Viman Nagar, and Lohegaon Airport. Ticket prices range from ₹5 to ₹10, with an average travel time of approximately 25 minutes. Additionally, another operational route exists from Ramwadi metro station to Lohegaon Airport (via Sanjay Park Lane no. 6).

The recently launched Pune Metro route from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi has garnered significant interest, with over 60,000 passengers utilizing the service since its inception on March 6. Despite the closure of Yerawada station due to ongoing construction work, the route connects crucial areas such as Bund Garden, Kalyani Nagar, and Ramwadi.

Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the metro route extension from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi in Kolkata on March 6, highlighting the city’s commitment to enhancing its transportation infrastructure.

These developments underscore Pune’s evolving transportation landscape, offering residents and visitors more efficient travel options throughout the city.
