Pune PMC News | Senior citizens are affected by the new rules to improve urban poor scheme by the PMC

Pune: Pune PMC News | On one hand the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) are coming up with new strict rules to improve the urban poor scheme, but on the other hand the senior citizens are badly affected by it. The former corporator of PMC got into a heated argument with the PMC employees after she went to get the scheme card for a senior citizen. The argument took place because she was not getting the proper reply from the civic employees even after repeated rounds.

On Friday the assistant health chief of PMC listened to both the corporator and employees side and provided the scheme card to the senior citizen and the dispute was put to rest.

It was observed that the people were availing the urban poor scheme of the PMC by submitting fake income certificate and ration card and the reason the PMC administration has changed the rules of this scheme for the past few months and has tried to stop the fraud by making the process online.

A senior citizen of Satara Road area was visiting the PMC to get an Aadhaar Card of Urban Poor Yojana, but he was not getting the card so he called the former PMC corporator Rani Bhosale and complained about it. Rani Bhosale called the concerned employees of the department but the employees were not giving proper answers so Bhosale reached the PMC office.

When Rani reached the PMC office on the ground floor, she found it locked and the employees were sitting inside. When Rani tried to speak with them on behalf of the senior citizen she was not giving the proper answers. Finally Rani Bhosalle went to meet Dr.Manisha Naik assistant health chief where she heard the side of the employees. Later corporator Bhoslale explained about the role of the administration and made them understand and ended the dispute by getting cards for the senior citizens.

PMC Corporator Rani Bhosale said, ” The senior citizen had to go to the PMC as he was not getting the card for many days and the dispute was due to bad experience faced by PMC employees. Although the scheme is undergoing good changes and some conditions have become oppressive, it is affecting the poor senior citizens. I have requested the commissioner to make separate regulations for it.”

Dr.Manisha Naik said, ” No one is allowed in the office as the agent is harassing them to get the Urban Poor Yojana card. After discussing with the former corporator Rani Bhosale the card of the concerned senior citizen was handed over to him.”
