Pune: Pune PMC News | In a startling revelation, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has uncovered a concerning trend of unauthorized individuals gaining access to the corporation’s premises using fake identity cards that bear an uncanny resemblance to those issued to permanent employees. Agents and activists have been exploiting this flaw, entering the buildings with ease, and manipulating contractor files under the guise of being legitimate employees. To counter this alarming situation, the administration has launched a comprehensive campaign to confiscate bogus identity cards.
The deceptive identity cards display the official logo of the municipal corporation, complete with the name, further perpetuating the illusion of authenticity. It appears that these fake cards are designed to mimic those given to permanent employees, raising serious security concerns for the corporation and its functioning.
Typically, contract employees hired by the municipal corporation are entitled to receive identity cards from their respective contractors, which clearly state their designation, duration of employment, and department affiliation. Unfortunately, this vital protocol has been overlooked in recent times, enabling unauthorized individuals to move freely within the premises.
Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binwade has taken a strong stance against this breach of security and has ordered stringent action against such fraudulent employees and agents. In the past eight days, the administration has successfully confiscated 175 bogus identity cards. Anyone found carrying these fake cards has been immediately apprehended, and appropriate legal measures are being taken against them.
Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of the Security Department, emphasized the importance of ensuring that all contract employees receive legitimate identity cards issued by their respective contractors. He expressed concern over citizens misusing fake identity cards to gain unauthorized access to the corporation’s premises.
The municipal corporation’s security department is working tirelessly to identify any remaining fake identity cards and promptly address the issue. This campaign aims to safeguard the integrity and security of the Pune Municipal Corporation while preserving the trust of the public in the organization.
