Pune News | Robotics to Change Our Lives, Expand The Horizons Of Development, Luxury And Necessity: Dr. Anand Bhalerao

Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering, Pune organized a two-day workshop for framing of curriculum for B. Tech. Robotics and Automation on 6th and 7th July 2021 through online mode.

Dr. Anand Bhalerao, Dean and Principal of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering, Pune inaugurated the function.

The workshop was attended by the experts from industry like Rakesh Tiwari and Sunil Hajarnis from Parker Hannifin, Kaustubh Kulkarni and Sushant Salunke from Intellectics Institute and Innovation pvt ltd, Vinod Atpadkar from SVR infotech and academicians like Dr. Ekta Singla from IIT Ropar and Dr. Ravi Kumar from NIT Bhopal.

Dr. K. B. Sutar, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed all the guests. Mr. A. N. Nayak proposed a vote of thanks at the end of the inauguration ceremony.

B.Tech. Robotics and Automation is a newly started program that will be industry-driven and will be in association with Parker Hannifin India Ltd. and Intellectics Institute and Innovation Pvt ltd.

Dr.Anand Bhalerao in his opening remarks said that “Older days are gone and now there is a need of interaction with the industry at every stage of development of an academic institution. So, there is a lot of roles of the industry in the development of institutions.”

He further added that the Indian education system is facing a lot of challenges like employability and competence. The industry also faces lot of challenges as skills required are continuously evolving and thereby increasing the costs of training freshers. So, its high time that both these institutions should come together and create new history in Indian education system.B

VDUCOE has taken a lot of steps like revising the syllabus every four years. BVDUCOE has been in forefront of innovations in the revision of the syllabus. BVDUCOE was the first college to introduce internship as an integrated part of the curriculum.

BVDUCOE also introduced subjects like professional skills development and concepts like Saturday at Bharati Vidyapeeth where senior corporates from the industry came to the institute and had interaction with the students.

To make this industry-institute interaction further BVDUCOE has started a program B.Tech. Computer Science and Business systems in association with lT giants TCS. In the same way, B.Tech.

Robotics and Automation are started in association with Parker and Hannifin and Intellectics institution and innovation Pvt ltd. and its curriculum will be totally industry-driven. He further added that manufacturing is shifting from China to ASEAN countries like India, Bangladesh, and to Africa as well. So there a lot of scope for automation in the industry. Robotics will do the jobs that are dangerous, dirty, or boring in these industries.

Robotics is not only going to change our life but also expand the horizons of development, luxury, and necessity. So, there is a need for very formal education in the robotics and automation sector and the first step in curriculum development.

This course will be industry-driven and will create industry-ready engineers.
