Pune News | Pune Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil suggested charging facility for E-Rickshaw from PMC

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune News | As the number of metro passengers is going to increase due to the expansion of Metro in the city. E-rickshaws can be used in a better way to reach the citizens to the metro station. The Higher and Technical Education minister and Guardian minister Chandrakant Patil suggested that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) should plan to start charging stations near the rickshaw stand. Chandrakant Patil inaugurated the mist based fountain system and distributed subsidy for e-rickshaw under National Clean Air Initiative by Pune Municipal Corporation on August 11. Additional commissioner Ravindra Binwade, Vikas Dhakne, Nitin Shinde of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Jitendra Purohit of ‘ARAI’ deputy commissioner of Environment department Madhav Jagtap and representative of Rickshaw Panchayat Nitin Pawar were present on this occasion.

Patil said, ” The central government and the municipal corporation are getting a combined subsidy of Rs 1 lakh for buying e-rickshaws. E-rickshaws can save on fuel costs and generate more income for their families. Rickshaw drivers should switch to using e-rickshaws to reduce pollution and increase income. The PMC should plan to set up a charging station near the rickshaw stand.

After the third phase of the metro, the number of passengers in the city will reach 4 lakh. Passengers need to use e-rickshaw, CNG rickshaws to reach the metro station from home. Patil said that mist based fountains installed in city squares will reduce dust particles in the air and reduce pollution.

Dhakne said, “The population of the city has reached 70 lakh and 55 lakh vehicles have been registered. The pollution is increasing due to the large number of outside vehicles. The Pune civic body is trying at many levels to control the population. Various measures like subsidy to e-rickshaws, use of e-buses, mist based fountains are being taken.”
