Pune News | Puddles on Pune-Nagar highway makes commuting a nightmare

PUNE: Pune News | Since the last few days, Wagholi has been receiving light rains. Since adequate arrangements for flow of rainwater have not been made on the Pune-Nagar highway, water has accumulated at many places. This is creating problems for smooth flow of traffic and inconveniencing commuters and pedestrians.

Water gets accumulated every year due to lack of space for flowing of rainwater, lakhs of rupees were spent and storm water drains were built on both sides of the road from Kesnand Phata to Jagtap Vasti. However, the drains have proved ineffective and rainwater is accumulated on the highway. Many times, there are arguments between citizens and commuters because water gets splashed on them.

Due to light rains, water is accumulated at many places on the highway and potholes have developed at some places. If it rains heavily, the possibility of the highway being flooded cannot be ruled out.

Despite reports in the media about the poor condition of the highway, the administration is not taking any concrete steps. Hence, the lakhs of rupees spent on storm water drains have not been of any use for citizens.
