Pune News | More than 1,000 stones removed from woman’s gallbladder

Pune : NpNews24 Online Pune News | More than 1,000 stones were removed from the gall bladder of a 30-year-old woman after performing a surgery. The surgery, known as Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, was carried out in a city hospital in 20 minutes. Savita (name changed) is a resident of Pune and she started experiencing pains in her abdomen. During examination, it came to light that stones had been formed in her gallbladder. This was creating disturbance in the functioning of her other organs. Because of pregnancy and delivery scheduled later, her operation was postponed. It was decided to carry out the operation after her delivery. She was breastfeeding her child regularly.(Pune News)

 

Hence, the surgery was planned in such a manner that she would be able to go home immediately. Hence, a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy was carried out on her and more than 1,000 stones were removed from her gallbladder. The surgery was successfully carried out by Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgeon Dr Shashank Shah at the Laparo Obeso Centre.

 

Dr Shashank Shah said, “Since the patient had gallstones, she was having severe stomach pains. During examination, an obstruction was found in her gallbladder. Generally, this happens when there are more stones. A Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy was carried out on her with three punctures and the operation was completed in 20 minutes. Later, she did not experience any pain and she was discharged within 20 hours after the operation. She was able to feed her child.”

 

If the percentage of cholesterol, calcium glycocolate and bilirubin increases in the gall bladder, then stones are formed. They are formed in the cavity of the bladder. The stones can be small, medium or large. Acidity, discomfort after lunch, genetic traits, obesity, diabetes, sedentary lifestyle, hormonal changes can lead to formation of stones. Five to 10 pc people in India develop this problem.
