Pune News | Issuing TDRs for land acquisition will be expedited

TDRs are in demand, land owners should take initiative: Vikram Kumar

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune News | The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has expedited the process of issuing TDRs for land acquisition. This will speed up road development and other civic projects. Currently, TDRs are getting good rates, which is giving good returns to land owners. Hence, land owners should come forward and submit proposals for TDRs in lieu of their land. This will help in the city’s development. This appeal was made by Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar. The PMC has prepared the ‘Missing Link’ report to acquire land for developing incomplete roads. Many roads are not entirely in use at over 150 places as land acquisition in the range of 50 ft to some gunthas is pending. The PMC is trying to complete the roads and acquire land considering their priority and the size of the land. However, land owners are demanding cash compensation. It is not possible to pay money for land acquisition considering the total expenditure on the work. Hence, there have been delays. On the other hand, the process of issuing TDRs is also time-consuming. This is causing issues for land owners.

When asked as to what the PMC is doing to find a way out of this situation, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar said, “It is a fact that important projects, including the ‘missing links’, have dragged due to problems in land acquisition. Currently, TDRs are being sold at 110 pc rates. Cash compensation gives less returns. We have conducted meetings to expedite TDR proposals.”

“Many objections are filed after a public notice is issued for land acquisition. Around 90 pc of objections relate to revenue and crime. Hearings and decisions in such cases are taking time. The civic body does not have power to decide revenue issues. Thus, the decision making prolongs. To reduce delays, complaints will be addressed quickly at the civic body level. Complainants will be alerted about revenue and criminal cases. The PMC is bound to follow the court if it stays the process. We will take care that cases do not remain pending at the PMC level.”
