Pune News | Four-Year-Old Girl Trapped in School Bus Sparks Safety Concerns in Pune

Pune : Pune News | In a shocking incident, a four-year-old girl was found trapped in a closed school bus for approximately three hours due to the negligence of the bus driver and a female caretaker. The incident took place at Bishop Co-Ed School in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, highlighting yet again the issue of student safety in the city.

The young girl was dropped off by her grandmother and boarded the school bus with the caretaker. However, during the journey, she fell asleep. When the bus reached the school, the other students disembarked, unaware that the girl was still on board. After waking up, the girl began screaming for help, but her cries went unheard as the bus was parked in a secluded area near the school. Thankfully, a parent who had come to drop off their child noticed the trapped girl. The school management was immediately informed, and the girl was rescued around 2 pm, after being stuck in the bus for approximately three hours.

The incident can be attributed to the complete negligence of both the driver and the female caretaker. When questioned about the incident, the school authorities provided unsatisfactory answers, further aggravating the parents’ concerns. Tarandeep Singh, the father of a four-year-old girl, expressed his shock, stating, “We were shocked to learn that our child was screaming for help on the school bus. We entrust our children to school with the confidence that they will be in safe hands. But after this incident, I am afraid to leave my child alone.”

A complaint has been registered at the Yerwada police station, demanding strict action against the school management and the bus driver.

This incident once again raises concerns about the safety of children in Pune. Thousands of students rely on school buses for transportation, and parents frequently voice complaints about the service. The incident has created a sense of fear among parents, who are now questioning who will be held accountable if such negligence leads to unfortunate consequences.
