Pune News | Custard apple season! Farmers happy with price

PUNE : Pune News | A large number of custard apples are arriving at the Market Yard and they are being sold in the price range of ₹20 to ₹180 depending on their quality. The stocks of the fruit are mainly arriving from Vadki, Purandar, Shirur, Nagar, Indapur and Saswad. Every day, about four to five tonnes of custard apples arrive at Market Yard. The fruit is in demand during the extra (Adhik) month.

The custard apple season is from July to November. Initially, four to five tonnes of the fruit arrive every day and it goes up to 40-50 tonnes every day in August. This year, due to the monsoon, the production of custard apples is less but the farmers are getting a good price. Hence, this year, the farmers are happy, said fruit trader Mauli Ambekar.

 

Rajendra Jagtap, a farmer said, “I have grown custard apples on five acres in Shirur. Although the production is less this year due to the monsoon, we are getting a satisfactory price as per the quality.”
