Pune: NCP leader Rupali Chakankar gets threat call from Sangli based man Jayant Patil

Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and state president of party’s women wing Rupali Chakankar received a threat call on Friday from a Sangli based man. The suspect also threatened to set Chakankar’s office on fire. Sinhagad Road police have registered FIR against the suspect in this regard.
The suspect has been identified as Jayant Ramchandra Patil, a resident of Tambve village from Valva tehsil in Sangli district.
According to police, a person named Jayant Ramchandra Patil had called on the telephone number of Chakankar’s office in Dhayari. He abused Chakankar and demanded for her personal mobile number. He then threatened to set the office on fire.
Chankankar was not in office when the call was received. Her personal assistant Rajdeep Kathale informed her about the incident. After deliberations, Kathale filed a complaint about this at the Sinhagad Road police station.
Chakankar expressed her confidence in the investigative and judicial agencies. “I believe the police will locate the suspect and take suitable action against him,” she told media persons.
