Pune: MCOCA Custody Sentenced Till February 17 for Seven Accused in Sharad Mohol Murder Case

Pune: A special judge in the Gangster Sharad Mohol murder case, V. R. Kachare, awarded MCOCA custody to seven accused on Monday. In Monday’s hearing, the special judge awarded MCOCA custody to all seven accused, including two lawyers, until February 17.

This ruling comes under the pretext of orders issued by the Commissioner of Police to take action against all the apprehended accused under the MCOCA Act. To hear on this issue, the accused were produced in the MCOCA court for the first time on Monday, February 12.

Before that, the accused, Adv Ravindra Pawar, Adv Sanjay Udan, Dhananjay Maruti Vatkar, Nitin Ananta Khaire, Aditya Vijay Gole, Santosh Damodar Kurpe, and Ramdas alias Vaghya Marne, who were arrested in the crime, were remanded in judicial custody.

Advocating for MCOCA custody for the accused, the investigating officer in the case, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Tambe, and the Special Public Prosecutor, Pramod Bombatkar, said that the face-to-face interrogation of the accused is necessary in this case to find out their involvement in the crime conspiracy. Furthermore, the accused are also needed for a thorough investigation of their assets, as the murder was said to have been done for reasons of financial dispute.

After hearing the arguments of the government and the defence, the court granted MCOCA custody to all the accused until February 17.
