Pune: Lohegaon airport witnesses chaos as passengers crowd airline counters after unexplained flight delay

Pune: On Wednesday, passengers of the Hyderabad flight were in straits because of the 3 hours delay of the flight. Indigo flight booked by the 100 passengers cramped the counters for knowing the reason(Lohegaon airport) for the delay of the flight, breaking the norms of social distancing because of coronavirus.

The passengers alleged that they were not given any information regarding the delay of the flight, and also the ground officials were not answerable to any of the queries of the passengers. This negligence of the staff made the passengers more annoyed.

Rajesh Raydas, one of the passengers of the flight, said that he booked his flight to Hyderabad with Indigo, which was scheduled to depart at 10.30 am, but it got delayed, which the annoyed passengers jammed the waiting area. Also, they were not given any proper answer from the Airports ground staff regarding the delay because of which they broke the rules of social distancing seeking clarification about the flight.

Raydas said an Indigo flight to Ahmedabad, scheduled at 9.50 am before his flight to Hyderabad, was delayed. “We couldn’t understand what it meant. We heard that the flight to Ahmedabad was delayed because of some reasons and the aircraft scheduled to fly to Hyderabad went to Ahmedabad, Our flight was scheduled to depart at 10.30 am. But the boarding started only at 2 pm. Many passengers got angry because of the delay and no one provided the right answers to their queries.” he stated that the officials led them in a confusing state of mind as they were saying that another aircraft was on the way for the passengers booked in Indigo’s Hyderabad flight.

Although one another passenger of the same flight claimed that the airlines had already clarified about certain things, the passengers of the flight shouldn’t be creating chaos about the issue.

The airlines claimed that the Indigo flight 6E917, scheduled to operate from Pune to Ahmedabad was held up in Pune due to a suspected bird hit in the previous flight. The aircraft was stopped at Pune for detailed inspection. All passengers were accommodated on another aircraft to continue their onward journey to Ahmedabad.
