Pune: Lawyer Couple Assaulted in Kondhwa! Police Launch Probe into Alarming Attack

Pune: In a disturbing incident of aggression sparked by a complaint to the police, a lawyer couple traveling on a two-wheeler was viciously attacked and subjected to abuse in Kondhwa. The appalling assault unfolded on Sunday, February 18, at approximately 3 p.m., in front of Aadhaar Dairy on Jagdamba Bhavan Road. The Kondhwa police swiftly registered a case against the perpetrators, identified as Wasim Iqbal Khan and Yunus Trasgar.

Mohammad Yakub Shaikh (37), a resident of Pisoli, immediately lodged a formal complaint with the Kondhwa Police Station on Monday (19th), detailing the horrifying encounter. As a result, a case has been filed against Wasim Iqbal Khan, residing in Gardenia, Phase-2 Vadgaon Sheri, Pune, and Yunus Trasgar of Undri, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 341, 324, 323, 294, 354, and 34.

According to police sources, the complainant and his wife, both lawyers by profession, found themselves targeted by the accused, identified as Wasim Khan, a resident of their society. The tension escalated from a legal dispute, wherein the plaintiff’s wife had taken on a case that incurred the wrath of Wasim Khan, who allegedly resorted to threats and extortion demands. In a previous altercation, Kondhwa police had initiated legal action against Khan, who was subsequently charged and listed as absconding. However, subsequent investigations led to the discovery of Khan’s whereabouts, further infuriating him.

On Sunday afternoon, when the lawyer couple was en route to Kondhwa Police Station, they encountered the accused near Aadhaar Dairy. Wasim Khan, fuelled by anger, intercepted their path, launching a violent attack. In the subsequent altercation, the accused viciously assaulted the plaintiff with a gas pipe while also attempting to forcibly remove the plaintiff’s wife’s burqa. The lawyer’s wife bravely intervened but was also subjected to severe injuries in the assault.

Following the incident, the couple lodged a complaint in this matter at Kondhwa Police Station. The police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
