Woman police constable suspended for threatening Wakad resident and demanding money
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Lady Police Suspended | A woman police constable working in the Pune cyber police station has been suspended after she threatened a person that he will be linked to a serious crime and demanded money and beat him up. The woman constable has been identified as Lata Dattatray Chavan. The orders to suspend her were issued by Addl CP Ramnath Pokale on March 2.
Lata Chavan is stationed at cyber police station. Despite not having any power, she threatened a Wakad resident that he would be involved in a crypto currency case and was beaten up after demanding money.
The order says that Chavan’s behaviour is irresponsible, criminal and has maligned the reputation of the police force. Hence, she has been suspended from March 2, says the order. A subsistence allowance has been sanctioned to her during the probation period. While taking suspension salary every month, she will have to submit a certificate that she will not work in any private company.
She has been told not to leave the head office. If she wants to leave the head office, she will have to take permission from the Addl CP office, administration and DCP’s office. During the suspension period, she will have to come to the office of Reserve Police Inspector, Police Headquarters, Pune city.
