Pune: Hinjewadi Police Arrests Accused in Brazen Day-Light Chain Snatching Case; Unravels Three Crimes

Pune: Hinjewadi Police apprehended a suspect accused of forcibly snatching a woman’s mangalsutra and mobile phone while she was walking on the road. The incident unfolded in Pandavnagar on January 24 at around 1 p.m. Identified as Lokesh Dayanand Kamble (18), a resident of More Vasti, Sane Chowk, Chikhli, the accused was brought into custody following meticulous investigative efforts.

The victim, Komal Santosh Nikalje (22) of Bokdewadi Man Taluka Mulshi, promptly lodged a complaint at Hinjewadi Police Station, recounting the harrowing ordeal she endured at the hands of the assailants. The accused, riding a two-wheeler, ambushed Nikalje as she traversed the streets of Pandavnagar, violently wresting away her mangalsutra and mobile phone.

Subsequent police investigations, spanning extensive scrutiny of 35 CCTV footages and rigorous analysis of technical data, culminated in the identification and apprehension of the prime suspect, Lokesh Kamble. Assistant Police Inspector Ram Gomare played a pivotal role in coordinating the operation, which led to the detainment of Kamble on Monday, February 5. Upon interrogation, Kamble confessed to his involvement in the crime, revealing the names of his accomplices, including Krishna Dhayinje of the Rahatni area and a minor.

A significant breakthrough in the case came with the recovery of stolen goods valued at Rs 59,200, comprising three mobile phones and a mangalsutra. The investigation not only brought closure to Nikalje’s case but also unearthed two additional crimes linked to the accused.

This successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 2 Bapu Bangar, and led by Senior Police Inspector Shriram Paul and his team of police officers.
