Notorious criminal detained for one year at Aurangabad jail; Police chief acts against 63 people under MPDA Act

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | A notorious criminal who had spread a reign of terror in the limits of Uttam Nagar police station has been detained for a year under the MPDA Act. Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has taken action against 63 people under MPDA Act. (Pune Crime)

 

The criminal has been identified as Sandeep Mohan Sawant (26), a resident of Indira Vasahat, Uttam Nagar, Haveli taluka. He has been detained in Harsul jail in Aurangabad for one year under MPDA Act.

 

Sandeep Sawant is a notorious criminal on police record and he along with is aides, has committed offences like possessing sharp weapons like sickle, sword, pistol and murder, attempted murder, causing injuries and riots. Six serious offences are registered against him in the last five years.

 

After examining the proposal and checking the documents, Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta issued orders that Sawant should be detained for one year under MPDA Act at Harsul jail in Aurangabad.

 

The action was taken by Senior PI of Uttam Nagar police station Sunil Jaitapurkar and Senior PI Vaishali Chandgude.

 

The police chief has acted against 63 people under the MPDA Act in the last one year. The police have said that they will continue to take action against notorious criminals.

 

The police are using various measures like MCOCA, externment and detainment to tackle the threat posed by the criminals.
