Pune: Pune Crime News | In a distressing incident, a 30-year-old man from Moshi was arrested on charges of stalking and outraging the modesty of a garment shop owner in the Bhosari area of Pune. The accused has been booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, 354 (Outraging Modesty) 354-A (Sexual Harassment) and 354-D (stalking).
The incident occurred on Wednesday when the accused followed the woman to her shop and issued threats, demanding a relationship with her. According to the complainant, the accused went on to touch her inappropriately in front of a saleswoman inside the shop. The woman’s bravery and the assistance of a nearby tailor helped deter the perpetrator, who later resorted to threatening the woman’s husband at their residence. Following this harrowing ordeal, the victim approached the police on Thursday and lodged a formal complaint.
As per the Bhosari police officer, the incident unfolded when the accused relentlessly stalked the garment shop owner in Bhosari on Wednesday. In a brazen display of harassment, the man confronted the woman at her shop, making unwarranted demands for a relationship. His aggressive behavior escalated when he inappropriately touched the victim in the presence of a saleswoman working at the shop.
Thankfully, the presence of mind and swift action prevented the situation from escalating further. She raised an alarm, prompting a tailor from a neighboring shop to rush to her aid. Faced with resistance, the accused fled the scene, but the trauma was far from over for the victim.
Later that Wednesday evening, undeterred by the confrontation, the accused visited the woman’s residence and directed threats towards her husband, leaving the entire family in a state of distress. Fearful for their safety, the woman decided to seek help from the authorities and bravely approached the police to file a formal complaint.
The Bhosari police took prompt action and arrested the alleged stalker on Thursday. They have registered a case against him for stalking and outraging the modesty of the shop owner. The accused now awaits appropriate legal proceedings for his appalling actions.
