Pune Crime Branch arrests man for stealing jewellery worth Rs 9.5 lakh

PUNE: Crime Branch sleuths arrested a man for stealing jewellery worth Rs 9.59 lakh from a jewellery shop on Laxmi Road.

A complaint was lodged by Sahib Dayal Singh Dilbag Singh Bir (37). And accordingly, a case of theft was registered against Rajendra alias Bapu Tukaram Salunkhe (39) at Vishrambag police station.

According to the police, Bir owns a shop Neelkanth Jewellers on Laxmi Road. The accused worked as an employee in the store. On February 14, the shop owner realised that jewellery worth Rs 9.59 lakh was missing. He then lodged a complaint with the police.

Upon interrogation, the Crime Branch became suspicious of Rajendra alias Bapu Tukaram Salunkhe as he started stammering and giving vague answers. He then confessed to stealing the jewellery to pay off a loan and told the police that jewellery was hidden in the house.

This action was taken by the team led by Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Kulkarni, Sachin Jadhav, Ayyaz Dadikar, Prashant Gaikwad, Ajay Thorat, Mahesh Bamgude, Satish Bhalekar, Yogesh Jagtap, and Meena Pinjan.
