Pune Congress Faces Internal Turmoil as Congress Declares Dhangekar’s Nomination for Pune Lok Sabha; Aba Bagul Voices Dissatisfaction

Pune: On Thursday night, the Congress MLA from the Kasba Peth Constituency was officially declared a Congress candidate for the Pune Lok Sabha elections. However, Dhangekar’s candidature did not go well in the city congress ranks. After the announcement of Dhangekar’s candidature, the former Deputy Mayor of Pune Municipal Corporation, Aba Bagul, held a press conference and publicly criticised the party’s decision on the election ticket.

“On one side, Rahul Gandhi took a Nyaya Yatra in the country, and on the other side, faithful party activists are being rejected. People should know who is the mastermind behind this,” Bagul expressed.

Bagul further said, in spite of having one person, one post formula in Congress, what the party has achieved by fielding a sitting MLA in the fray for Lok Sabha elections.

He also took a jibe on Dhangekar, saying a person who has just joined the party gets a party ticket for Lok Sabha in the Congress. However, someone who, for the past 40 to 50 years, has been loyal to the party ideology was left empty-handed. “If his (Dhangekar’s) earlier video criticising the Congress was circulated, before joining the party, it would become difficult for the Congress party.

Meanwhile, he clarified that, after discussing with the workers and activists, he would declare his further role. “Today, every worker has tears in their eyes. In the next two to three days, we will take out a candlelight march near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Congress party headquarters in the city and decide our future plans.

Bagul said that the captain should have come forward and discussed it with the loyalists. “There are many officials in the city who have not been discussed before taking the decision.

If only one person wanted to be nominated, then why did they do the drama of calling applications from aspirants?” said Bagul.

He further added that if decisions started taking place in such a manner, no one would save the Congress party from its debacle.
