Pune ATS nabs man for Khalistani terrorist links

Pune: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Investigations by the state the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) has revealed that the 42-year-old man arrested on December 2, has links with Khalistani terrorists.

ATS has identified the arrested accused as Harpalsingh Pratapsingh Naik (42), a native of Mughalmajra in Ropaa district of Punjab. He currently lived in Bellary in Karnataka.

On 02/12/2018 ATS Pune Unit had received information that one person is coming to Chakan area in Pune district and carrying illegal firearms. ATS, Pune unit laid a trap and arrested him near Hotel Garva (Shelgaon) on Chakan-Shikrapur road in Khed taluka. Police recovered one pistol and five live cartridges from his possession.

According to ATS, during the course of investigation, it has been revealed that accused is conversant with the use of Social media and Internet. With the use of it, he’s trying to procure weapons, and instigating youths for carrying out terrorist activities in India. He is a strong supporter of separate Khalistan. For the formation of separate Khalistan is in contact with terror minded people from across the country and abroad including Pakistan.

To threaten the integrity and the sovereignty of India, accused and his associates have formed a terrorist gang and obtained firearms to carry out terrorist activities. According to the evidence collected so far, section 20 of Unlawful Activities (prevention) act 1967, amended 2008 is added against accused and his associates. Another associate and a member of his gang are recently arrested by Sarhand Police Station, Punjab. ATS, Pune Unit is further investing the case.

On Monday, his police custody was extended till December 17 by a special court.
