Pune: A day after heavy rains, citizen’s fume over traffic congestion at Khed-Shivapur toll plaza

Pune: As rainfall subsided in the city from Thursday, Punekars fumed over the massive congestion at the Khed-Shivapur toll plaza on Friday evening. Commuters were irritated over long queues at the toll plaza and the inefficient administration of the toll employees.

The Pune-Satara highway stretch near Khed-Shivapur has been riddled with potholes. Also, the overbridge and road widening work on the highway has added to the woes of commuters. As a result, the motorists had to face huge problems on Friday evening. Vehicles had to wait for at least 20 minutes at the toll plaza. Especially those headed towards Pune city were stuck in the traffic jam for a long time. Despite being a working day, the toll plaza administration could not manage the traffic well. As a result, many motorists expressed their dissatisfaction over the management at the toll plaza.

The employees at the toll plaza said that the number of vehicles have increased on the highway after the rain spell for two days. After the rains subsided on Friday, large number of people have come out and because of this the congestion at the toll plaza has happened, said one employee.
