Priyanka Gandhi’s Convoy meets with an accident on National Highway; no injuries reported

New Delhi: Four cars of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s convoy met with an accident near Hapur Road on National Highway 24. Two cars of Priyanka’s convoy reportedly collided with each other leading to the accident.

The cars suffered minor damages and no injuries have been reported so far.

Accompanied by Congress’ Uttar Pradesh unit chief Ajay Kumar Lallu, Priyanka was on her way to Rampur to meet the family of a farmer who died during the tractor rally on January 26 in the national capital.

As the deadlock between the Centre and the protesting farmers continues, the 13th day rituals of Navneet Singh will also see the presence of Samajwadi Party leader and Leader of Opposition in UP Assembly, Ram Govind Chaudhary, other than Priyanka.

The death of the farmer had led to several controversies; while the police say that overturning of the tractor led to the death, several including journalist Rajdeep Sardesai and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor had said that police shooting killed the farmer.

The Congress party has been supporting the on-going farmers protest and have demanded to repeal the contentious farm laws. Rahul Gandhi in the last 15 days conducted 3 press conferences, demanding the central government to repeal the three farm laws.

Thousands of farmers, especially from Punjab, Haryana, and west UP, are protesting at several Delhi border points since November last year against the three farm laws. They are demanding from the Centre to repeal the laws as they fear that the legislations will dismantle the existing mandi system. They are also demanding legal guarantee on MSP for their crops.

The three laws are — Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
