PMC duped of Rs 50 lakhs in Pune Mayor Cup Kushti championship, FIR registered

Pune: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – An FIR has been registered against five persons including president of Rashtriya Talim Sangh, Mangalwar Peth, for allegedly misappropriating Rs 50 lakhs during the 2016 Pune Mayor Kushti Championship.

The case was filed with Faraskhana police station on Sunday on the orders of the judicial magistrate (first class) RR Bhalgat. Former general secretary of the Sangh, Gorakhnath Somnath Bhikule, has lodged the complaint.

Those named as accused are president Damodar Takle, trustee Yogesh Dodke, Amol Bhuteshwar, Lalit Bhusare and Babita Bhusare. They have been charged for offences under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 476 (counterfeiting document), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468, (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged document as genuine), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

As per the FIR, in 2016, the Pune Mayor International Wrestling Competition was organized by the PMC in association with Rashtriya Talim Sangh. The competition was held in Kharadi in 2016. For the competition, PMC had spent Rs 1.83 crores. Of these, the corporation had paid Rs 56 lakh for the award of international players, royalty of wrestling federation and state level rewards and fees for umpires and the remaining amount was also given by cheque. However, the Rashtriya Talim Sangh members allegedly submitted fake bills and misappropriated lakhs of rupees.

A written complaint was lodged to the Pune Municipal Commissioner about this. But no action was taken. Bhikule approached the Pune city police also but no action was taken.

Hence, he moved the court through lawyers Pratap Pardeshi and Manoj Pawar. After going through the documents submitted, the JMFC court ordered the Faraskhana police station to register case and investigate the matter. Police inspector (crime) Shirke is further investigating the case.
