Plastic surgery gives new hope to patients – Shobha R Dhariwal

Dhariwal | A free plastic, cosmetic and hand surgery camp was recently conducted by the RMD Foundation, in association with the Agarwal Club Pune Charitable Trust, at the Madanbai Manikchand Dhariwal Hospital Shirur. Burns, congenital deformities of hands, feet and body, conjoined fingers, warts and marks on face, cleft lip and palate, nose, ear, chin deformity, accidental deformities, etc, are treated in the camp. Patients from across Maharashtra and outside the state visit the camp every year and take benefit of free surgeries. The camp has been conducted regularly for the last twelve years, said Dhariwal.

 

The camp was organised for two days on the weekend last week. Total 250 patients were checked and 76 patients underwent successful surgeries. On this occasion, a girl, who was being treated for the last 10 years since she was six months old and when her 24 fingers were stuck, the last remaining finger was successfully separated in this camp.

 

To make the camp successful, Umesh Jalan of Agarwal Club Pune Charitable Trust, Dr Pankaj Jindal, a famous plastic surgeon, Dr Subrahmanyam, Dr Swapna Athavale, a plastic surgeon, also from Dr Madanbai Manikchand Dhariwal Hospital Prashant Kedari, a pediatrician, Dr Ravindra Chauhan, orthopedic surgeon, Dr Gupta, Dr Arvind Jain, Vandana Sagvekar, ICU Staff, nurses took efforts.
