Pimpri police recovers weapons, stolen booty worth Rs 14 lakhs

In  a massive operation, officials from Pimpri police station under the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate, have arrested 14 persons and claimed to have recovered several weapons and stolen materials worth Rs 14 lakhs from their possession. With their arrest, police claimed to have solved 18 cases.

Additional Commissioner of Police Makrand Ranade held a press conference on Friday and gave information about the action taken by his team.

On Tuesday, some accused had looted a Jupiter vehicle and Rs 1.75 lakhs cash. While investigating this case, Assistant Police Inspector Satish Kamble received tip-off about the accused persons. Accordingly, the investigation team arrested two persons, Ayub Nazir Shaikh (23) and Maastan Ahmad Qureshi (23, both from Dehuroad). When he inquired about it, they confessed about the crime. However, during the crime, he said that there were 10 other accused also involved.

According to the police, Salman Mehboob Sheikh (22), Rafiq Abdul Shaikh (19), Siddiqui Pakurrehman Shaikh (23), Niyaz Jamir Shaikh (21) and Navashaj Nazir Shaikh (20) were arrested. Five of the seven accused have been exposed by Pimpri police station and five cases of robbery solved. Police seized 40 gm of gold ornaments, 72 thousand rupees, three bikes and four mobile phones totally worth five lakh 67 thousand rupees. Altaf Bablu Rangrej, Sabir Sameer Sheikh and Lala Shaikh are absconding and their search is on.

Vikas Sunil Ghodke (21, resident of Wadgaonsheri, Pune) and Kuldeep Tanaji Shinde (20) of Chandan Nagar have been arrested. They are involved in five robbery cases. Police have recovered ornaments worth Rs 6.65 lakhs including gold mortgaged with Manappuram Finance, Pimpri.

Later, the Pimpri police seized five motorcycles worth Rs.1.55 lakh from Salman Gaus Shaikh (age 24, resident of Milind Nagar, Pimpri). This resulted in five crimes in Pimpri police station being solved. Then Rahul Hiralal Bhandekar (20, Kharalwadi, Pimpri) was arrested  and mobile phone worth Rs 13,000 was seized from him.

Two persons were arrested during combing operation and police recovered two country-made pistols and live cartridges from their possession.

Police Commissioner RK Padmanabhan, Additional Police Commissioner Makrand Ranade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Smtatna Patil and Assistant Police Commissioner Satish Patil supervised the investigation team which included  senior police Inspector Vitthal Kubde, Police Inspector (Crime) Ranganath Umde, Assistant Police Inspector Satish Kamble, Police Sub-Inspector Vitthal and policemen Rajendra Bhosale, Shakir Jinedi, Nagnath Lakde, Mahadev Jawle, Shreekant Jadhav, Santosh Dighe, Raju Jadhav, Santosh Bhalerao, Rohit Pinjarkar, Umesh Wankhede, Vidyasagar Bhote, Avinash Deshmukh, Ganesh Khade, Namdeo Raut, Ganesh Karpe, Someshwar Mahadik, Vikas Reddy, Vishnu Bharti, and constable Kirti Gharge.
