Opposition Parties’ Meeting Under the Chairmanship of Sonia Gandhi Today, the Issue of Migrant Laborers will be Discussed

New Delhi : A meeting will be held through a video conference of opposition parties led by Congress President Sonia Gandhi today i.e. on Friday, in which the situation of migrant workers amid Coronavirus epidemic and steps taken by the government to tackle the current crisis and economic package will be mainly discussed.

According to sources, Sonia Gandhi will preside over the meeting of leaders of opposition parties. About 17 political parties have agreed to attend this meeting. The Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have not confirmed their participation in the meeting so far. The meeting has been called at three o’clock on Friday. Since the March 25 lockdown in the country to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, a large number of workers have left their homes from major cities on foot. Many laborers have also died in accidents at many places.

Opposition parties have accused the government of failing to deal with this crisis of migrant workers. In the meeting, recent changes in labour laws in some states will also be discussed. Working hours have been extended, with labor laws changing in some states.
