One dead, two injured after being attacked with an iron rod

Kalyan: Three persons were attacked with iron rod on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday in Saparde village in Kalyan West. In this, one woman died while two others were critically injured, the police said.

The incident happened during a ‘haldi ceremony’ in a house. The accused took advantage of this and barged into the victims’ house.

The deceased has been identified as Suvarna Chintaman Ghode, while the injured have been identified as Bharti Jagdish Mhatre and Pawan Jagdish Mhatre. Both the injured have been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

A search is underway to find out the accused, said Khadakpada police station Senior Police Inspector Ashok Pawar.

Police are also investigating whether the attack was due to some personal enmity or a robbery attempt.
