Odisha girl fed the feces of pig by Tantric anticipating she’s possessed when she fell ill

Bhubaneswar : Even in the 21st century, there are some people who trust superstition, not medical science and doctors. Something similar happened in Malkangiri, Odisha, where a Tantric fed a pig feces to cure a sick girl. In fact, 70 years after independence, superstition still exists in the tribal belt of India. According to the information, black magic was resorted to cure the sick woman in Malkangiri. A man who performed black magic allegedly beat up the girl before claiming to cure her and remove evil spirits from the body, and then fed pig feces in the name of treatment.

The woman was reportedly ill for more than a week. Anticipating the entry of evil spirits into the body, the villagers sought help at the local level and took him to a tantric. In the name of treatment, the tantric not only forced her to eat the pork but also fed her pig feces.

The tantric said after chanting mantras and performing other rituals in front of the girl, that she is possessed by ghosts who can only be treated with pig feces. Apart from this, the victim was also beaten in the process of rituals during the treatment, due to which the bruises on her face started appearing. The incident is on Sunday, although the victim was admitted to hospital after her health worsened  due to beating and more injuries.

Superstition is still prevalent in the tribal areas of Odisha. When people fall ill in such areas, they rely more on tantric and witchcraft instead of hospitals. Such areas are Naxalite affected and there is a lack of good roads and hospitals. There is not even a basic medical facility for the people of such an area. The incident of taking pregnant women on cot for treatment is common in tribal areas.

At the same time, Rishikesh Khilari, SP of Malkanagari district, told the media that the investigation of the incident is going on. We are in contact with the woman. No one has been arrested yet. For this a team has been formed which is looking for the accused.
