Netflix stripped off its 30- day free trial option in India

Mumbai : Netflix has scrapped its free trial option when users set up a new account on Netflix. It has cancelled its 30-day free trials across all markets. The move is speculated for easing the traffic as the streaming category is increasingly getting crowded.

It was speculated by Phillip Swan who first noted the cancellation of the 30 days trial period. Phillip Swan runs a website The TV Answer Man who notes developments in the TV world on this website.  All free things are good but all good things are not free. Netflix seems to have taken this seriously as it has cancelled its 30-day free trial period. Netflix offers mobile plans starting from Rs 199 that can be cancelled anytime.

Netflix on its Help Centre Page stated, “Free trials are not available, but you can still sign up and take advantage of all Netflix offers”. “There are no contracts, no cancellation fees, and no commitments. You have the freedom to change your plan or cancel online at any time if you decide Netflix isn’t for you. As a Netflix member, all our plans give you access to our full catalog of TV shows and movies. Choose a plan that works for you and sign up for Netflix!” as per the statement by Netflix.

Another reason speculated by Swan for removing the 30 days trial period may be to generate revenue. However, there is no official announcement from Netflix yet. Currently, the free-trial option is not available across all markets. One can try and login into free subscription, you will witness the option is no longer available. However, it is yet not clear that the cancellation of the 30 days trial period is cancelled for users who were already in the middle of the plan. Netflix gives monthly subscriptions starting right from Rs 199 which can be cancelled anytime.
