NCP woman activist murdered in Ahmednagar

Pune: Rekha Bhausahb Jare, a 39-year-old leader and activist associated with the Nationalist Congress Party has been murdered allegedly by two unidentified motorcycle-borne persons in Ahmednagar district on Monday.
Rekha was president of the Yashaswini Mahila Brigade, a local organisation working for women’s welfare.
The incident took place around 8.20 pm on Monday (November 30) when Rekha Jare was travelling from Pune to Ahmednagar in a car along with her mother, son and a friend, a police official said.
According to the cops, the accused chased the vehicle, moved ahead and stopped her vehicle by parking their two-wheeler in the middle of the road. She was called on the road after which the accused and victim further had an argument.
The accused then allegedly pulled out a knife and slit Jare’s throat following which she collapsed and died on the spot.
According the cops, a case of murder has been registered at Ahmednagar’s Supa police station against unidentified assailants and  that police are trying to ascertain the exact reason behind the attack.
