NCP MP Supriya Sule poses question to civic chief Vikram Kumar about tekdi
Pune : NpNews24 Online – MP Supriya Sule | NCP MP Supriya Sule visited the Vetal Tekdi on Tuesday against the backdrop of the opposition of the people to the Vetal Tekdi project. “The civic administration should rethink about the project because the people are opposing the project. The city environment has to be saved. We should look for other alternatives to the road without affecting the environment and cutting a single tree,” she said.
The proposed Balbharati-Paud Road road project is facing strong opposition from environmental activists apart from the common man. Supriya Sule visited the tekdi at 1 pm to understand the issue. She collected information from action committee members about where the road is being planned and how many trees were going to be cut. She later visited the forest department office and saw the presentation made by the action committee.
Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar had earlier said that there is no tekdi where the road is being made. Reacting to it, Sule said, “Some people say that the road is being built on tekdi while some say that there will be no road on tekdi. Hence, I have come here to see the situation. The civic administration feels that this is not a tekdi but what I have seen is a tekdi. If they feel that this is not a tekdi then how is a tekdi?” thus posing a question to Vikram Kumar.
