NCB Busts International Drug Trafficking Racket, 8 Arrested
New Delhi: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted an international drug smuggling racket operating out of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to the capital city Delhi. The NCB team has arrested 8 people in connection with this case on charges of smuggling heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
The operation was launched earlier this month with the seizure of a drug parcel, the arrest of two African nationals and a Myanmar woman. The NCB said in a statement that the main ringleader of this India-Nigeria drug syndicate is Frank alias Peter and he used to run his syndicate from a rented flat in Noida. He was arrested on September 15.
A total of eight people have been arrested and the NCB has seized about 8 kilograms of heroin, 455 grams of cocaine and 1.1 kilograms of premium quality marijuana, the statement said. The India-based module of this International Drugs Syndicate has been busted. According to the investigation, in the last few months, this module had smuggled about 52 kilograms of illegal drugs.
Earlier in this month, the NCB had busted a gang of heroin traffickers by arresting seven people and drug seizure worth Rs 48 crore. The NCB had said that those arrested included an African man and a woman from Myanmar.
In a statement, NCB Deputy Director (Expeditions) KPS Malhotra has said, “The gang was using the international courier route in view of the limited number of international passenger flights. The campaign was started earlier this month under which a parcel of 970 grams of heroin brought from South Africa was seized from a courier service in Delhi.”
