Illicit country, IMFL liquor found in vehicle used for transporting cow dung manure in Nandurbar

Nandurbar : NpNews24 Online – Nandurbar Police | In a major action, the Nandurbar Police Local Crime Branch (LCB) held a tractor driver for illegally transporting India made foreign liquor (IMFL) hidden inside cow dung manure.

The police also seized valuables, including country liquor and IMFL, valued at Rs 16.10 lakh. The action was taken at Mandana in Shahada taluka of the district on Monday night.

The Nandurbar police have been directed to act against illicit liquor smugglers in the Nashik Range by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Nashik Range. Acting on a tip-off, Superintendent of Police PR Patil directed LCB PI Ravindra Kalamkar to act immediately against the tractor transporting illicit liquor.

PI Kalamkar formed a police team, which set a trap near Pipade village. A red tractor was seen at 12.45 am heading towards Pipade from Aslod village. The vehicle was stopped and checked. The police found boxes containing illicit liquor hidden in cow dung manure. Tractor driver Lakhan alias Ganesh Dala Bhil (28), a resident of Wadi Budruk, taluka Shirpur, district Dhule, was arrested. When interrogated, Bhil said he was taking the liquor boxes belonging to Pintu Patil from Boradi to unload them at a place 2-3 km away from Akkalkuwa. The police seized 110 boxes containing 5,280 bottles (180 ml each) of Bombay Whisky worth Rs 6,86,400, 39 boxes containing 936 tins (500 ml each) of Kingfisher Strong Beer worth Rs 1,68,480, 20 boxes containing Mount 6000 Super Strong Beer valued at Rs 55,200 and the tractor worth Rs 7 lakh, totally amounting to Rs 16.10 lakh.

An offence was registered at the Shahada police station and the accused was handed over to the Shahad police.

The action was taken under the guidance of SP PR Patil and Addl SP Vijay Pawar. A team comprising PI Ravindra Kalamkar, police personnel Deepak More, Vikas Kapure, Purushottam Sonar and Vijay Dhivare took part in the action.
