Nandurbar police conduct special drive, act against drunken driving, cancel driving licence of violators

Nandurbar : NpNews24 OnlineA special drive is being conducted in the Nashik police range on the instruction of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Nashik range. Action is being taken against drunken driving. Rising fatalities in road accident is the reason behind the special drive.

 

Commuters using vehicles are being examined within the jurisdiction of all police stations in Nandurbar district. Some drunken driving cases were detected. FIRs have been filed against violators at various police stations. Licences of eight have been cancelled for three months while licences of 52 have been cancelled for six months.

 

On Monday, 22 commuters’ licences were cancelled. Of these, licences of six were cancelled for one year while licences of 14 were cancelled for six months. The number of licences cancelled and the areas, in which action was taken, are as follows: suburb – 5, Visarwadi – 4, Navapur – 3, Shahada – 3, Nandurbar taluka – 2, Taloda – 2, Sarangkheda – 1, Nandubar City – 1, and Akkalkuwa – 1.

 

Proposals of cancelling 27 licences have been submitted to the Deputy Regional Transport Officer (RTO). The police said that action would continue in the future also.

 

Drunken driving is forbidden. It is not only hazardous to the driver but also to others. Citizens should follow traffic rules for the safety of all. They should not drive vehicles under the influence of liquor. Stringent action will be taken against violators. Their licences will be suspended, said Superintendent of Police PR Patil.
