Mumbai Weather : IMD Predicts Heavy Rain in Next 48 Hours, People Advised To Stay In Homes

Mumbai: The rains have started in Mumbai and surrounding areas of Maharashtra. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in Mumbai during 48 hours. The Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert for Friday and Saturday for Mumbai and surrounding areas. Seeing the heavy rains in Mumbai on Friday, the Mumbai Police has advised people to stay in their homes.

According to IMD, rainfall between 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours is considered as heavy rain. Rainfall between 115.5 mm to 204.5 mm is called very heavy rain. Rainfall exceeding 204.5 mm in 24 hours is called Heavy to very heavy rainfall.

After the Orange Alert, Mumbai Police has advised people to stay in their homes and not go out and take necessary precautions. IMD’s Mumbai Regional Office said that between 9 am and 10 am on Friday, 72 mm in Colaba, 69 mm at Colaba Fire Station, 59 mm at Nariman Point Fire Station, 50 mm at Sea Ward, 51 mm at Malabar Hill, MHO 48 MM, Worli 41 MM, Mandovi 40 MM, Dadar 39 MM, Bykhala 38 MM, Haji Ali 37 MM, Dharavi 29 MM, Dadar 27 MM rain has been recorded.
