Mumbai: One worker dies after TRT Machine failure on Ambernath-Badlapur rail route

Mumbai: Earlier on Wednesday, the gantry of Track Relaying Train (TRT) derailed between Ambernath-Badlapur during maintenance block from 2:05 to 5:10 am. While restoration work is underway, several trains were being diverted to ensure that they did not face difficulties.

Meanwhile, two contract workers were injured in the accident. They were admitted to Kalyan Hospital, where one worker died during treatment and the other is in stable condition. The body has been handed over to a rural hospital in Badlapur.

The Central Railways has also released a shortlist of trains that have been diverted via Diva-Panvel-Karjat due to the TRT machine failure.

It has been decided to increase 204 local trains in Mumbai Suburban Railway from January 29. This will increase the number of local round trips from 2781 to 2895. Central Railway has decided to increase the number of local trains from 1580 to 1685 and Western Railway from 1201 to 1300.

Meanwhile, no decision has been taken yet to allow the general public to travel by train. The state government and Railway Ministry are yet to issue statements on the resumption of local train services for the general public. For now, passengers have been asked to follow all Covid-19 protocols.
