Mumbai News : Corona antibodies found in 50% of children – SERO survey

Mumbai : On one hand the number of corona patients is decreasing, on the other hand, the discussion of the third wave of corona has started in the country. Along with this, the concern of the government, administration and common people has also increased due to the Delta Plus variant of Corona.

Even today, the number of corona patients in Mumbai has not come under control and in the meantime news of new concern has come to the fore. In the sero survey conducted in Mumbai, corona antibodies have been found in more than 50% of the people of the city, especially young children. Along with this, corona antibodies have been found to be increased in young children of Mumbai in the sero survey as compared to the earlier survey.

The survey was conducted by Nair Hospital and Kasturba Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Knowing the possibility of young children being more at risk in the third wave of corona. In view of this, Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Suresh Kakani had directed to conduct this sero survey during the second wave. This survey has been done from 1 April 2021 to 15 June 2021.

How was the sero survey done?
In this sero survey, a total of 2 thousand 176 samples were collected from all the 24 wards of Mumbai. For this, 1283 samples were collected from two private hospitals while 893 samples were collected from Nair Hospital of its medical network and Municipal Corporation.
